General Info:
The Durian fruit is best known for its very strong, pungent aroma, as well as its surprisingly tasty flavor. Native to southeast Asia, Durian is a formidable looking fruit, having a thick, thorn covered husk ranging from light green to brown in color. Durian is a round, sometimes oblong shaped fruit and can weigh up to seven pounds each. The edible flesh of the fruit is commonly a pale yellow hue with large brown seeds. The Durian fruit grows on a tall evergreen tree that also bears large, nectar producing flowers. These flowers are said to give off a sour odor, and are usually closed in the daytime. In spite of the strong aroma, Durian is widely enjoyed in many forms, from fresh fruit, to candy, even as Durian ice cream!
